Building on Martin Audio UK’s series of weekly webinars aimed at helping technicians stay up to date with the latest technology during the COVID-19 pandemic, Martin Audio Japan has taken inspiration from the concept and has started to host its own series. The localised programme is hosted on Facebook and started in early April with Low Frequency System Design which has had over 3,700 views.

“We are doing whatever we can in this situation to assist customers,” said Martin Audio Japan’s Sam Yamashita. “We are aiming to provide them not only with insights into Martin Audio’s product portfolio, but also a variety of other subjects that may help them in forthcoming projects, once the crisis has ended.”

After 28 years of consistent touring, the Stereophonics’ relentless quest to improve their stage sound and gain closer engagement with their audience continues.

At the request of the band, and specifically Kelly Jones, their sound techs were sent into overdrive, working on a radical approach for the latest arena tour. Long-term FOH sound engineer Dave Roden, using his preferred Martin Audio MLA loudspeaker array, sent his mix to a distributed PA system, running the length of a 60ft thrust from main stage, into the belly of the audience, with a small ‘B’ stage at the end of it.

Martin Audio has announced the release of two new compact, high performance cardioid subwoofers, the SXCF118 and the SXC115, suitable for both live sound reinforcement and fixed installations.

The SXCF118 is a flyable version of the SXC118 released last year and has been purpose designed to accompany the WPS optimised line array system, while the ground stack SXC115 is set to partner WPM.

Barbee Boys are a five-piece Japanese rock band who were particularly popular in 1980’s. The first Japanese group to perform at the famous Nippon Budokan,they disbanded in 1992, much to the disappointmentof their young generation of fans.

This turned to excitement when they suddenly announced a solo ‘comeback’ concert at the Yoyogi National Stadium 1st Gymnasiumon January 13—exactly a decade after that Budokan show—sending these same fans into raptures.
