CENTRO EVENT SPACE

CENTRO EVENT SPACE

ABOUT CENTRO

Located near Austin, in the heart of vibrant Downtown Round Rock, Texas, Centro offers a multi-functional, modern space built to host a variety of events, from reoccurring monthly community meetings to a la carte gatherings.

With an open floor plan and functional layout, Centro is able to customize every aspect of each gathering to create tailored and memorable experiences for their guests.

REQUIREMENTS

– High fidelity performance and sound

– Simple and easy to use system that would allow anyone to plug in and utilize

– Modern aesthetic that would blend in with the purposefully designed black ceilings

THE CHALLENGE

With a growing demand for corporate gathering spaces in Austin, the team behind Centro Event Space knew that they wanted to create a space that would not only be aesthetically pleasing, but also incorporated the highest quality, yet easy to use, audio system that would set them apart from other event locations.

With numerous zones throughout the property, and a 14-foot video wall in the main event space, the challenge was to deliver high quality sound at consistent sound levels throughout the premises, while ensuring volume levels were comfortable to listen to in any location. The space was also purposefully built with modern finishes that could easily transform from a corporate event space in the day to a cocktail and catering lounge in the evening depending on the demands of the client. It was essential that any speaker that was installed blend in with the design of the space to maintain that top notch aesthetic and almost disappear.

With a very specific vision, and a desire for high-quality audio to elevate their space, the team at Centro reached out to Felix Media Solutions, one of the fastest growing commercial audio and video solutions integrators in Austin, to bring their vision to life.

BEYOND EXPECTATIONS

“Sonance is all we really use for commercial installs. We know it sounds good, it is competitively priced, and we know it is much better than the other 70V options in the market. Plus, our customers love them. When you walk into Centro, you truly don’t even notice the speakers because they blend right in with the design of the space.”

– Mike Watts, Vice President of Design, Felix Media Solutions Inc.

METHODOLOGY

Professional audio integration is more than merely filling a space with sound. It’s a tangible design element and a critical part of the space’s environment that is meant to create a mood and elevate the senses without distracting from the designer’s vision and aesthetic goals. For over 30 years, the architectural speaker pioneers at Sonance have continually explored and refined the fine art of musical fidelity within a designed space, with their series of award-winning in-wall and in-ceiling speakers.

RESULT

The team at Felix Media Solutions wanted to ensure that they integrated consistent, even balanced audio throughout the entire property that was not only comfortable to listen to, but also easy to manage. They turned to Sonance for their highly acclaimed audio solutions.

From the main event space, to the facilities’ gym, the Centro Event Space installation consists of 18 Sonance Professional Series Pendant Speakers and four 6.5” Professional Series Surface Mount speakers in the open-air outdoor terrace. The Surface Mount’s IPX-4 weatherproof construction safeguards the speakers against moisture and other outdoor elements.

Centro’s control system consists of a simple interface with only a few buttons for source selection which engages all the appropriate back end selections with just a simple touch, making it easy for anyone to use.

THE ARMOURY AT ARSENAL FC

THE ARMOURY AT ARSENAL FC

ABOUT THE ARMOURY

Arsenal Football Club has revamped their flagship store, The Armoury, to bring the excitement and energy of match day to the fan shopping experience. Taking the opportunity to introduce elements like audio effects and video through a multi-zone design, Arsenal FC has created a truly unique experience.

THE CHALLENGE

This ambitious project was born from the desire to deliver an immersive, realistic experience to various zones of The Armoury. The goals for this project included an entrance that behaves as a virtual player tunnel, themed changing rooms complete with atmospheric audio, detailed audio to support video displays, and an engaging Virtual Reality area called “The Cage” where customers can try out their skills on a virtual pitch. With very unique and specific technology needs, the team at The Armoury leveraged the vision and expertise of design firm 442 and installer Knektd Ltd.

“We were absolutely delighted to be asked to pitch for this prestigious project by 442, after recommendation by the Armoury’s music streaming provider and audio effects creator, Open Ear. 442’s specific brief was for immersive sound to create a sense of a shared experience with the Arsenal Club and team. Essentially, the new Armoury would be an audio experience as much as a visual one, the two coming together to inspire customers with the excitement of a match day.”

Stewart Maynard – Knektd Ltd

REQUIREMENTS

To achieve the sophisticated goals of this interactive store, the audio hardware had to be powerful, detailed, and designed to blend in with the space without being distracting. For this, the team at Knektd selected Sonance Professional Series and Sonance Invisible Series speakers. Sonance Professional Series speakers are minimalistic in design for a clean finish to this space. They are also 70V/100V to deliver the coverage and power required for this project. And for areas where the speaker’s visual presence would subtract from the overall experience, the Sonance Invisible Series commercial speaker was deployed. All the Sonance speakers selected for this project were also compatible with EASE software for specifying and measuring speaker placement and output.

METHODOLOGY

Sonance Invisible Series speakers were installed in the ceiling of the entrance “tunnel” to provide a realistic game day ambience. The speakers have a wide dispersion of over 170 degrees making their placement difficult to pinpoint and the experience more immersive. They are completely hidden behind the plaster of the ceiling, adding to the immersive feeling of walking through the player tunnel. Also added to the tunnel were Sonance Professional Series 6” in-ceiling speakers. These were strategically placed along the lower half of the tunnel along with PIR sensors to reproduce football cleats on a hard surface as people enter through the space.

Sonance Professional Series in-ceiling speakers were also selected for the changing rooms to transform them into curated experiences, one with sounds of the Arsenal Tube Station, one that feels like you’re in the Club’s Locker Room and one that has the feeling of the Emirates Stadium itself. For the video walls, Sonance Professional Series pendant speakers were installed just above the viewing area to draw customers in and engage them in the video content. The speakers were calibrated to achieve the proper volume and output to be inviting but not distracting.

RESULT

As a whole, The Armoury has been transformed into a totally unique, immersive, and engaging shopping experience for football fans. The audio and its interaction with the surrounding environment have provided a more complete immersion of the senses that leaves customers with an unforgettable feeling of being part of the game and the Arsenal FC.

SPATIAL HOLODECK

SPATIAL HOLODECK

ABOUT SPATIAL HOLODECK

Austin’s South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference exhibits cutting-edge innovation and creativity through technology, culture, and music; showcasing brands who aim to connect people. Spatial embarked on a unique mission to provide guests the experience of the full power of immersive sound at The Sunset Room with The Spatial Holodeck SXSW activation.

The activation, designed and fabricated by Pink Sparrow, set out to bridge a multitude of spaces that took visitors on a sonic journey powered by Spatial’s technology. By introducing three-dimensional, interactive soundscapes, Spatial and their partners redefined immersive experiences and provided an audio world unheard anywhere else.

Guests were surrounded by 360-degree immersive audio as they explored scenes from around the world and learned about Spatial technology throughout; guided demonstrations, a sonic listening lounge, hands-on opportunities with Spatial Studio, and a stage for panel programming. The Spatial Holodeck partnered with arts and entertainment collective Meow Wolf, who designed a pop-up exhibit that took guests through an experiential journey with interactive moments within the Spatial Holodeck.

THE CHALLENGE

The team at Spatial knew they wanted to create an activation that seamlessly blended speakers and supporting technology with the activation’s physical design aspects. Spatial chose Sonance and James Loudspeakers, with a reputation of the highest quality audio system; bringing together some of the core artistic principles in audio design, sound-engineering, and AV integration. The collaboration between Sonance and Spatial made this experience a sonic work of art.

The team at Spatial expected a very diverse SXSW audience for their largest public-facing activation to date. With only 90 days to bring this event to life and four days to build the activation, the stakes were high for Spatial to find a team that could help them implement systems that would seamlessly work together.

With multiple spaces throughout the 3,700 square foot venue, and acoustic challenges including 14-foot ceilings lined with exposed ductwork in the interior space, it was crucial to maintain audio quality. With these challenges and a desire for high-quality audio to elevate the distinct spaces throughout the activation, the team at Spatial reached out to Felix Media Solutions, for their world-class professional, creative, and technical capabilities with a focus on bringing their customers’ visions to life.

METHODOLOGY

undefined Professional audio integration is more than merely filling a space with sound; it’s a tangible design element and a critical part of the space’s environment that is meant to create a mood and elevate the senses without distracting from the designer’s vision and aesthetic goals. For over 30 years, the architectural  speaker pioneers at Sonance and James Loudspeaker have continually explored and refined the fine art of musical fidelity within a designed space, with their series of award-winning in-wall and in-ceiling speakers.

With Spatial, design principles are no longer a concern. Spaces can now be designed with visual and audio intent in mind all while keeping the aesthetic and acoustic value of spaces at the highest priority. The Spatial Holodeck proved that by working with Sonance and Felix Media Solutions, seamless, custom and flawless integration can be accomplished Time only became an obstacle, not an inhibitor.

Integration (installation) began offsite at the Pink Sparrow warehouse in LA, where Sonance speakers were installed into pre- constructed frames that were then shipped to Austin while Felix Media Solutions began installing Sonance speaker wire runs into the venue’s activation spaces in anticipation of the panels’ arrival and installing ceiling-mounted speakers and subwoofers. Both teams worked together to build connection boxes that were designed to meet the pre-arrival runs Felix Media Solutions installed in the venue, allowing for a seamless transition between the work done in Los Angeles and that done in Austin as activation components arrived and were assembled.

RESULTS

The team at Felix Media Solutions wanted to ensure that they integrated evenly balanced sound that was not only acoustically tuned, but would also enable a truly experiential environment. Spatial had a very specific vision and high expectations of partnering with the best in technology, audiovisual, and IT. Felix Media Solutions understood the pre-work integration and preparation that went into a complex commercial activation.

With a very short timeline and a very strict project management schedule, the team at Felix Media Solutions was able to install over 179 channels throughout the 3,700 square foot activation as well as the exterior pop-up with Meow Wolf.

BARNOA WINE COMPANY

BARNOA WINE COMPANY

ABOUT BARNOA WINE CO.

After a 30-year love affair with wine, Mike Trebing’s dream to turn his passion into a business finally came to fruition when he purchased Barnoa Wine Company in 2016. While the previous owners did a good job of establishing Barnoa, Mike had grand plans, and promptly went about upgrading the wine list, the menu, the décor and even the audio system.

Barnoa Wine Company features a bottle shop with wine racks along one wall, two-sided island bar with stool seating, high top and regular height tables and a separate L-shaped lounge area. Outside there is a small patio area to capitalize on the spectacular Southern California climate.

THE CHALLENGE

To deliver extremely high quality sound at very consistent volume levels throughout the entire premises, while dealing with a low suspended ceiling, reflective surfaces, various seating locations and several different listener heights.

Low Volt Automation Technologies (LVAT) in Oceanside, California were awarded the project; and they turned to Sonance for their Professional Series range of Commercial Loudspeakers and DSP Amplifiers.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Full fidelity performance
  • Consistent volume levels throughout the entire premises
  • Seamless integration of sound between indoor and outdoor
  • Aesthetic that could be hidden in the painted suspended ceiling

BEYOND EXPECTATIONS

“The low suspended ceiling meant that we needed to use many speakers to ensure consistent coverage. Sonance Professional Series 4” in-ceiling speakers not only deliver superior frequency response and dispersion to traditional commercial loudspeakers, the small footprint creates less visual distraction, which is important when installing so many in a space”

 – Shaun Birdsall Owner, LVAT

METHODOLOGY

Professional audio integration is more than merely filling a room with music. It’s a tangible design element and a critical part of the space’s environment that is meant to create a mood, elevate the senses and not distract from the designer’s vision and aesthetic goals. For over 30 years, the architectural speaker pioneers at Sonance have continually explored and refined the fine art of musical fidelity within a designed space, with their series of award-winning in-wall and in-ceiling speakers.

“The sound is absolutely perfect, no matter where you are in the premises. There are no loud areas where people are shouting to hear one another and no quiet areas where you can’t hear the music. Everyone is comfortable, everywhere … And that means they are staying longer.”

 – Mike Trebing Owner, Barnoa Wine Company

RESULT

The Barnoa installation consists of 16 x 4” In-Ceiling speakers spread evenly throughout the room to provide consistent volume levels with no hot spots or dead zones. 4 x 8” in-Ceiling Woofers were installed in the corners to provide additional bass. Optional black square grille adapters were used to allow the speakers to blend aesthetically into the painted roof tiles. 8” Surface Mount Speakers were used on the patio with an IPX4 weatherproof construction that ensures reliability when installed outdoors. The consistent voicing across the Sonance Professional Series range ensures seamless integration of sound when moving from inside to outside.

FILM ALLEY

FILM ALLEY

ABOUT FILM ALLEY

Established in 1926, Film Alley has three Texas locations for family-friendly entertainment. Going beyond the typical movie theater experience, Film Alley features fun dining areas, bars, bowling lanes, arcades, and various private event rooms, each integrated for audio/video experiences. Each expansive facility is decked out with large TVs throughout so patrons can view video content from anywhere throughout the space.

REQUIREMENTS

Even though each zone is independent of the others, the speakers needed the option to provide coverage collectively, while also offering the flexibility to isolate zones for private events, and tailor distinct music and audio playback from the system or video feed. The speaker hardware also needed to blend into the surroundings in a way that would maintain the fun atmosphere without bulky speakers that distract.

THE CHALLENGE

For the Film Alley, Terrell, TX location, local technology experts, SAVE Electronics were invited to design a system to support the unique needs of the project. With several entertainment areas requiring audio: the parking lot, lobby, film room, arcade, bar, bowling lanes, and event rooms, it was a challenge to bring each space to life with enough speakers to provide full sound coverage that would match the needs for each experience. The height and vast square footage of this project made reliable, even audio coverage the main priority for the audio system.

BEYOND SOUND

“We have challenges, a lot of times, making sure you have enough speaker coverage so that it’s the same throughout the whole space. It really does create an experience.”

– Tim Boyd, Founder | SAVE Electronics

METHODOLOGY

The integrator on the project, SAVE Electronics, believes in providing their clients with a seamless A/V and automation system that is simple to operate. They want their clients to enjoy the experience without having to think about the technical aspects of the system. The team ultimately decided to leverage the performance and design of Sonance for the audio on the project.

RESULT

To achieve the appropriate coverage for the project, Sonance engineers helped identify the ideal height and placement of each speaker. The sleek and minimalistic design of the pendant speakers and surface mounted speakers allow them to disappear into the open ceiling space throughout the facility. The result is a complete and immersive experience that floats around Film Alley guests as they participate in all the fun activities throughout, be it watching a movie in the film room, eating with friends, or bowling while watching the big game.

Hear the game perfectly.” – Tim Boyd Founder | SAVE Electronics

REQUIREMENTS

The audio needed to achieve even, balanced coverage so the games and music could be heard from anywhere in the restaurant. Additionally, the Boomer Jack’s team wanted to avoid causing any hotspots where people are buried in sound right over their head. This way the audio experience would be present without overpowering conversation with others around you.

BEYOND EXPECTATIONS

Every speaker is laid out perfectly so there is no bad seat in the restaurant.

– TIM BOYD FOUNDER | SAVE ELECTRONICS

METHODOLOGY

Guided by their motto, “Let us automate while you operate,” SAVE Electronics took on the project in partnership with Sonance, utilizing Sonance Professional Series to evenly place speakers across the space in order to “hear the game perfectly” as Tim Boyd of SAVE Electronics puts it.
