Located near the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, Claremont McKenna College (CMC) is a private liberal arts college in Claremont, California, and one of the seven members of the Claremont Colleges consortium. Home to 1,300 students, The Wall Street Journal/College Pulse 2025 Best US Colleges rankings rated Claremont McKenna as the 5th-best overall college or university and the best liberal arts college in the nation.

When the college’s gym could no longer adequately serve the college’s expanding varsity programs, the school decided to build a new athletic center — Roberts Pavilion. Groundbreaking took place in Spring 2014, and the building officially opened for recreational use in August 2016. Roberts Pavilion has become a central hub for CMC and the Claremont–Mudd–Scripps athletic community, offering cutting-edge facilities for varsity sports, fitness, physical education, and campus-wide events. However, the audio in the event arena no longer met the student body’s needs, so the college embarked on a project to improve the intelligibility and audio experience in the arena.

“LEA Professional was the obvious choice for this project,” said Alyssa Ishi, Applications Engineer at Geer Tech. “Its flexibility to support unique spaces, combined with the power of the Cloud, made all the difference. The students at Claremont College deserve exceptional sound quality, and that’s exactly what they now experience every day.”

THE INSTALL

The Hungaroring is a 2.7-mile (4.4 km) motorsport racetrack in Mogyoród, Hungary. It’s the home of Hungarian motorsport, and the Formula One Hungarian Grand Prix is held there in the middle of summer, which is usually extremely hot and dry at the time. Considered one of the best tracks in the circuit, Hungaroring includes many high/medium speed corners chained together, making following challenging, plus very few hard braking zones. The twisty and bumpy nature of the circuit makes overtaking very difficult, earning it the nickname “Monaco without the barriers.” Besides Formula One, the track has also hosted the DTM and FIA GT Championship races.

2026 heralds the track’s 40th anniversary, and the racetrack is being completely renovated in advance of the milestone. The racetrack contracted with Visual Europe Group to design and implement an all-new audio system, and they included LEA Professional amplifiers as part of the buildout.

“The biggest challenge was providing a uniform, high-quality, and sufficiently dynamic sound system for the huge outdoor venue,” said Tamás Bodnár, Product Manager of Visual Europe Group. “LEA’s speaker tunings made it very easy for us when we swapped out the old gear.”

The Visual Europe Group team installed several LEA amps, including a Connect Series 168D, 4 Connect Series 352D, 23 Connect Series 704D, and 4 Connect Series 1504D models to power the venue’s audio system, covering the racetrack’s main grandstand, race control, and paddock building. The CS168D is an 8-channel amplifier with 160 watts per channel, the CS352D is a 2-channel amplifier with 350 watts per channel, the 4-channel CS704D offers 700 watts per channel, and the 4-channel CS1504D provides 1500 watts per channel.

All Connect Series amplifiers are professional-grade IoT-enabled smart amplifiers for any size installation, support Hi-Z (70V or 100V) and Lo-Z selectable by channel, and feature Smart Power Bridge technology. Connect Series also includes 96kHz DSP, which is standard in all models and offers a range of benefits that significantly enhance audio performance and system versatility. Dante-enabled models like the 168D, 352D, 704D, and 1504D include 96kHz-capable Dante and AES67 connectivity options, plus Dante simplifies system installation with scalable, high-resolution audio over IP (AoIP).

The Connect Series delivers an industry-first professional amplifier family to feature cloud connectivity, a revolutionary advancement and a significant benefit for anyone maintaining the systems. With LEA Cloud, AV teams like Visual Europe Group can remotely control and monitor the amplifiers regardless of the location or time of day, and with no subscription model or hidden costs, it’s completely free to use.

THE CONCLUSION

Good audio during a Formula One race enhances the thrill of the experience by capturing the raw intensity of engine roars, team radio chatter, and live commentary with clarity and precision. It immerses fans in the action, helping them feel every gear shift, tire screech, and strategic call in real-time, as if they were trackside.

“At a Formula One racetrack, every detail matters — including the sound,” said Bodnár. “We chose LEA amplifiers because their reliability and clarity ensure the energy of the race reaches every fan, from the pit lane to the grandstands.”

“Taming the reverberation in a gym isn’t easy — the high ceilings, hard bleachers, and parquet floors make it challenging for high intelligibility,” said Kevin Laymon, Project Engineer at Western Audio Visual. “That said, the project turned out great, as was working with Geer Tech and LEA Professional. I wish all my interactions with manufacturers were as enjoyable.”

LEA Amplifiers Elevate the Audio at Bethlehem Baptist

When Bethlehem Baptist Church set out to improve clarity and power in its sanctuary, JCA Media turned to LEA Professional’s Connect Series amplifiers. With built-in DSP, Smart Power Bridge flexibility, and remote monitoring through LEA Cloud, the new system delivers crystal-clear sound from pulpit to pew. ⛪⭐

Bethlehem Baptist Church

Bethlehem Baptist Church, located in Greensburg, Kentucky, is a small, rural Christian congregation in a community where faith and tradition hold deep significance. A modest, brick building with a steeple — its interior is reflective of a traditional Baptist style, with pews arranged in rows facing the pulpit and a sense of reverence and intimacy in the service. Although open and airy, the parishioners struggled to hear and understand the sermon at times. Amplifiers from LEA Professional were the perfect solution to increase headroom during musical worship and provide better intelligibility for spoken liturgy.

Church staff contacted Alex Peake, a project manager at JCA Media, to design a new audio system for the sanctuary. Since the LEA Connect Series of two-, four-, and eight-channel amplifiers are the most full-featured in the industry, Peake recommended them to meet the church’s goal of high intelligibility.

“Most amplifiers are being commoditized and sold at almost the same price,” said Alex Peake, project manager at JCA Media. “But then LEA adds in DSP capabilities, a control system [WebUI], and remote connectivity [LEA Cloud], essentially all for free. Those are huge benefits and a lot of the reason LEA is the primary amplifier I’m installing these days.”

THE INSTALL

Peake installed Connect Series 354 amplifiers to power the church’s new monitors as well as existing mains. The IoT-enabled 4-channel 354 provides 350 watts per channel into 2, 4, and 8 ohms, and 70Vrms and 100Vrms. It supports Hi-Z (70V or 100V) and Lo-Z selectable by channel and features Smart Power Bridge technology. The integrated 96kHz DSP effectively eliminated the need for unnecessary equipment in the rack, ensuring the overall job cost was kept to a minimum.

The Connect Series delivers an industry-first professional amplifier family to feature cloud connectivity, a revolutionary advancement, and a significant benefit for anyone maintaining the systems. With LEA Cloud, AV companies like JCA Media can remotely control and monitor amplifiers from anywhere, at any time, and with no subscription model or hidden costs. It’s completely free to use.

CS354D

WebUI functions as a simple on-site control interface, offering integrators and end users an easy-to-use platform to view and adjust channel settings, ranging from load monitoring to EQ adjustments, through any standard web browser. For AV companies like JCA Media, WebUI streamlines on-the-spot testing and modifications, enabling efficient system setup and fine-tuning during system installation.

THE CONCLUSION

The difference between the old and new audio systems was immediately apparent. Parishioners no longer needed to struggle to understand the sermon, and the musical worship reproduction was crisp and clean.

“Being able to mix and match four ohm, eight ohm, 70 volt, and 100 volt on the same amplifier is great,” said Peake. “And my favorite fact is that you don’t lose channels when you want to do that. Top it off with cloud connectivity for remote support, and that’s why I use LEA amplifiers every chance I get.”

HH Electronics LEA Professional Optimal Audio

Speaking Easy

An upgraded venue in Mumbai boasts one of the first Optimal Audio installations in India. Caroline Moss reports from Permit & Co

In 1949, liquor was banned in the city then known as Bombay. To circumvent this drastic measure, it wasn’t long before “Aunty Bars” started popping up: hostelries run from the living room of enterprising housewives, where alcohol was served alongside homemade snacks. By 1972, the law was loosened up as permits to drink alcohol on licensed premises became available, and the permit room was born.

Permit & Co seeks to recreate those heady times. Located in a 150-year-old former cotton mill in Lower Parel, the venue is owned and operated by Aditya Vijay Hegde. Serving food and cocktails inspired by Bombay’s rich and nostalgic heritage, it’s prohibition with a modern twist.

“We’ve moved from the colonial era to retro 1970s,” explains Hegde with a nod to Gymkhana 91, the previous outlet he ran for eight years on the premises. This called for a new sound system. “We wanted to be a high-energy bar but, at the same time, for people to be able to converse clearly,” he continues. “In India, many people still feel that good music is loud. I was looking for different options, and for what would work. We also put on live performances, so it would need to handle that as well as DJ sets and background music.”

Audio Technik India, which had installed the original system at Gymkhana 91, was called in to suggest an upgrade, organising an Optimal Audio demo. “Even though the volume is pretty high, the sound only goes where we want it, because Audio Technik tuned the system well,” continues Hegde. “The precise placement of the speakers is what makes it work. Once again, Audio Technik provided a great service, listening to any changes we wanted. They will also provide ongoing maintenance if we need it.”

The carefully focused system comprises two Optimal Audio Cuboid 15 and two Cuboid 12 passive 2-way speakers, powered by an LEA Professional CS1504 high-power, 4-channel smart amplifier with low frequencies handled by an HH Audio TNA-2800SA active subwoofer. DJ and band monitoring is via an HH Audio TRE-1001 active speaker with onboard DSP, speaker management is via an HH Audio SP26 2-in/6-out digital system and an HH Electronics Q16FX 16-channel analogue mixer handles live performances.

Precise speaker placement and tuning were vital in this heritage building, as its beautiful colonial-era windows and Burmese teak ceilings precluded the installation of any acoustic treatment. “The issue with heritage buildings is you can’t really touch the interiors,” explains Prashant Govindan, director of Generation AV, which represents Optimal Audio and HH Audio in India and worked closely with Audio Technik to carry out a product demonstration and find the best solution for the client. “You visit the premises with a conservation architect who gives guidelines, which are especially important in this part of Mumbai, with its colonial architecture. Aditya was keen to keep it that way; he brought it back to its original glory, and he needed a sound system that complemented the ambience he wanted to create.”

With Hegde expressing a preference for what he termed a “British” sound, Optimal Audio was deemed a good choice. “It comes from the Martin Audio lineage after all, and retains the ethos of the brand,” continues Govindan. “We created presets on the LEA CS1504 amplifier to give the sweet sound Aditya was looking for and reduced the complexity of the signal chain. The Optimal Audio Cuboid speakers allow you to focus on the audience without the sound bouncing off the walls – a design challenge we overcame because there are so many reverberant surfaces.” Flexibility is enhanced by the Cuboid’s rotatable high-frequency horns providing 80° x 50° (HxV) coverage.

The 4-channel amplifiers can be easily scaled up if needed. “You’re not locked into any configuration with LEA, because it’s a digital amplifier and factory-approved presets of any loudspeaker brand can be downloaded from their websites, which makes the integrator’s life that much simpler,” explains Govindan. LEA’s Connect Series also offers different methods of network connectivity including Dante, AES67 and the cloud, giving options for future expansion.

With a seated capacity of 150, Permit & Co hosts an eclectic mix of DJ and live music performances throughout the week. Furnished with antique bric-a-brac sourced from Mumbai’s Chor Bazaar flea market, hung with Bollywood posters and 1970s’ prints and handing out novelty permits at the door, this retro venue is certainly keeping nostalgia alive and well in Lower Parel.

Headquartered in Puyallup, Washington, Builders Capital has grown into one of the nation’s largest private construction lenders, surpassing $15 billion in lifetime originations and fueling residential development projects from coast to coast. With more than $8 billion in active loan commitments and a client roster of over 500 builders and developers, the company stands as a dominant force in shaping the future of housing.

Unlike traditional lenders that focus only on individual projects, Builders Capital evaluates a builder’s entire business pipeline — providing strategic credit facilities that align with long-term goals, streamline the financing process, and speed up access to capital. This builder-first approach eliminates unnecessary headaches and delays so clients can stay focused on what they do best: building homes and communities.

To support its expanding East Coast client base, Builders Capital recently opened its new regional headquarters in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The office includes a 2,000-square-foot training and conference facility designed for both internal development and client engagement. To deliver a premium experience in this space, Builders Capital tapped The Audio Visual Group, who integrated a flexible, high-performance sound system powered by LEA Professional amplifiers.

THE INSTALL

Shayne Ettienne, owner of The Audio Visual Group, designed and installed the audio system and knew that LEA amplifiers would be perfect to power the large room. “We love LEA amplifiers. They’re so powerful, and also literally a DSP that has amp features in it,” said Ettienne. “Because of its flexibility and the fact that we can control it without needing an external DSP, we’ve been using them in all kinds of scenarios. For Builders Capital, the combination of management tools, physical size, and quiet fan operation made them a perfect fit for the installation.”

The Audio Visual Group deployed Connect Series 354 amplifiers to power the training room’s 12 coaxial pendant loudspeakers. The IoT-enabled 4-channel CS354 provides 350 watts per channel, supports Hi-Z (70V or 100V) and Lo-Z selectable by channel, and features Smart Power Bridge technology. Connect Series also includes 96kHz DSP, which is standard in all models and offers a range of benefits that significantly enhance audio performance and system versatility. Presets in the Crestron control system were used to switch the room between training and conferencing setups, which was made possible by LEA’s open API and the Crestron LEA Plugin. Elements of the amplifier can be monitored and adjusted via the API, allowing customers to integrate the Connect Series amplifiers with 3rd party equipment to create almost limitless, custom AV solutions.

The Connect Series delivers an industry-first professional amplifier family to feature cloud connectivity, a revolutionary advancement and a significant benefit for anyone maintaining the systems. With LEA Cloud, AV teams can remotely control and monitor amplifiers from anywhere, at any time, and with no subscription model or hidden costs. It’s completely free to use.

THE CONCLUSION

As a financial services company, attention to detail is critical. Therefore, when Builders Capital trains staff on new offerings or works with clients, the training room’s audio must be crystal clear to ensure that nothing is missed, and everyone hears the same information. With LEA amplifiers, Builders Capital is well-equipped to grow its business with confidence in its audio system.

“We’ve used LEA amplifiers in many projects and look forward to working with them in many more projects in the future,” said Etienne. “They’re a great product with fabulous power offerings per rack space, full DSP, and best of all, great people. I highly recommend them.”

LEA Amplifiers Enhance Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s Message at the King Center

Powerful legacy, modern sound, and timeless impact—The King Center is amplifying Dr. King’s message with the help of S&L Integrated and LEA Professional. 🎤✨

THE SPEC

🪙 Venue: The King Center | Atlanta, GA

👷‍♂️ Integrators: S&L Integrated

🎶 Audio Spaces: Entire Venue

🦈 Product Used: LEA Connect Series 1504D

The King Center

The Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change, commonly known as the King Center, is located in Atlanta, Georgia, and serves as a living memorial to the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the prominent leader of the American civil rights movement. Established in 1968 by Coretta Scott King, the widow of Dr. King, the center is dedicated to preserving the teachings of nonviolence and promoting social justice and equality. It provides resources for education, community empowerment, and the continuation of Dr. King’s work towards achieving peace, racial equality, and human dignity.

As part of a comprehensive upgrade plan for the King Center, the management team aimed to install a large video wall in the lobby to serve as a striking focal point for visitors. When the time came to execute the lobby renovations, venue staff selected S&L Integrated to design and implement the video wall. William Collins, the Account Executive for the project, recommended the LEA Professional/FlatPanel Audio system based on having heard them in a very acoustically live church sanctuary, and knew it would be a great fit for the King Center. The audio components were excellent right out of the box.

“The King Center’s lobby is very impressive looking, with brick walls, tile floors, glass, and stonework,” said Collins. “Acoustically, it’s a very challenging space, though. We knew we needed a unique audio solution to minimize acoustic reflections without overpowering the room. Once we found the right speakers for the environment, we knew that LEA amplifiers would be the perfect way to power them.”

THE INSTALL

S&L installed two FlatPanel DML500 loudspeakers in the lobby. Their 165-degree conical coverage and unique sound waves transparently deliver LEA’s exceptionally pristine signal path. Unlike conventional loudspeakers that degrade intelligibility in highly reverberant spaces, DML loudspeakers ignore the center’s beautiful but sound-compromising windows and shiny floors. Paired with a FlatPanel LS118 subwoofer specifically designed to complement the DML500s, the power for both highs and lows provided by the LEA amplifier yields a significant sound quality improvement over the former sound system, according to the center’s employees.

S&L used the LEA Connect Series 1504D to power the loudspeakers and subwoofer. The Dante-enabled 4-channel 1504D provides 1500 watts per channel into 2, 4, and 8 ohms, and 70Vrms and 100Vrms. It also supports Hi-Z (70V or 100V) and Lo-Z selectable by channel and features Smart Power Bridge technology. S&L’s team doubled the output on one amplifier channel to power the subwoofer while two channels fed the left and right loudspeakers.

The Connect Series delivers an industry-first professional amplifier family to feature cloud connectivity. With LEA Cloud, AV teams like S&L can remotely control and monitor the amplifiers regardless of the location or time of day, helping teams work more efficiently, reducing travel, and saving time and money.

THE CONCLUSION

Visitors to the King Center are enthralled by his speeches on the video wall, affirming it’s not only a historical site but also a vibrant institution dedicated to continuing the work that Dr. King began, promoting a vision of unity, peace, and justice for all people.

“It’s an honor to play any role in maintaining the life, legacy, and teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.,” said Collins. “For us, LEA amps just work. Between the Smart Power Bridge technology and LEA Cloud, they fit the bill perfectly for many of our installations.”

chicken oil company

The Chicken Oil Company, affectionately known as “Chicken Oil,” is a cherished burger joint with deep roots in Bryan, Texas. Located in a rustic building that was once a gas station, Chicken Oil opened its doors in 1977. Over the decades, it has developed a loyal following for its welcoming atmosphere, Texas charm, and hearty comfort food — especially its burgers, chicken-fried steak, and Tijuana fries. The quirky décor, featuring everything from old license plates to neon beer signs, adds to its nostalgic appeal. Strongly connected to the culture of Texas A&M University and the wider Bryan/College Station community, Chicken Oil reflects a long-standing tradition of casual dining and local flavor embraced by generations of Aggies and locals.

In 2022, Chicken Oil suffered a catastrophic fire that affected the kitchen and back-of-house areas and dealt a significant blow that left many loyal patrons disheartened. Down but not out, restaurant management vowed to rebuild Chicken Oil to its former glory and reopened its doors in 2025. As reconstruction plans progressed, restaurant staff contacted Kermit Moore, Owner of QuickTechAV, to design and install the new AV system. LEA Professional amplifiers play a key role in the new multi-zone layout.

“LEA amps make installations simple because they’re easy to use, you can use a mixture of different types of speakers on the same amp, and their speaker tunings optimize right from the start,” said Moore.

“Most amps can’t compete with that.”

THE INSTALL

A total of 30 speakers are installed across the restaurant, including 19 pendant speakers, nine surface mount speakers, and two in-ceiling speakers in the restrooms. The pendant speakers are mounted in the main and overflow dining rooms, while the surface mount speakers are used in the bar and outside the entrance.

QuickTechAV deployed Connect Series 168 amplifiers to power the restaurant’s speakers. The IoT-enabled 8-channel CS168 provides 160 watts per channel, supports Hi-Z (70V or 100V) and Lo-Z selectable by channel, and features Smart Power Bridge technology. Chicken Oil staff can connect to the built-in Wi-Fi access point, the restaurant’s Wi-Fi, or the local area network via Cat5 or Cat6 cable.

The Connect Series delivers an industry-first professional amplifier family to feature cloud connectivity, a revolutionary advancement and a significant benefit for anyone maintaining the systems. With LEA Cloud, AV teams can remotely control and monitor the amplifiers regardless of the location or time of day, and with no subscription model or hidden costs, it’s completely free to use.

THE CONCLUSION

Patrons are thrilled about Chicken Oil’s reopening, eager to return to the nostalgic atmosphere and classic comfort food they’ve missed. Longtime fans and new visitors alike are lining up to enjoy the burgers, fries, and laid-back charm that made it a local favorite.

“Commissioning the LEA amplifiers was flawless,” said Moore. “Everything worked when we turned on the system and started walking around the restaurant, checking all the controls and the zones. Everything came up the first time; the music was playing, and it was playing in the correct zones. Everyone was really happy with how it sounded.”

HH Audio reinforces fun Japanese dining concept in Mumbai

India: A new outlet of the Japanese-themed Harajuku Tokyo Café chain has opened in Mumbai’s BKC district with a sound system featuring HH Audio speakers powered by LEA amplifiers. The installation was handled by systems integrator Varun Dua of Bassline AV Technologies, who has installed similar systems into several Harajuku Tokyo Café outlets in the north of India. Both brands are represented in India by Generation AV.

“HH is a very flexible, multi-use brand which fits well for a venue like this, which plays background music during the day as well as DJ music and karaoke in the evenings,” explains Dua. “HH Audio with LEA amplification is a good combination, and we get brilliant service support from Generation AV. I was one of HH Audio’s first partners three years ago, when Generation AV starting representing them in India, and I’ve used them for several pan-Indian chains and retail outlets I work with.”

The main system consists of four white HH Audio TNi-W8PRO-WH 8-inch passive speakers supported by two TNi-W6 6.5-inch speakers used as delay fills, and a TNA-1800S subwoofer for low-frequency reinforcement. The entire setup is powered by a single LEA Connect Series 1504 amplifier. Dua used the amp’s built-in DSP to fine-tune the audio, ensuring optimal coverage in the centre of the room while minimising reflections from the floor-to-ceiling windows. Harajuku’s own playlist sets the tone during the day, with DJ sets for special events. Every Friday evening, a projector screen drops down for karaoke – or “Harajukuoke” – as a mic is passed around to willing participants.

“This is a new concept in India, where Japanese cuisine is typically presented in a formal dining context,” explained marketing manager, Khushe Taylor. “We position ourselves as as fun dining outlet, not fine dining, because we want everybody to enjoy Japanese culture and food.

“We play a mixture of J-pop and K-pop along with other styles of music, and it changes throughout the day. The sound system is very flexible: it works for having conversations earlier in the day and also has enough power to ramp up during the evenings.”

Having recently secured a new round of funding, the Harajuku chain – owned by entrepreneur Gaurav Kanwar, who opened the first branch at the age of 25 – is aiming to expand into 15-20 outlets in the next two years, with a planned eventual total of around 90 pan-India.
