Revered Festival Sound

For over fifty years, Martin Audio has earned a reputation for supplying superb sound systems across the spectrum of sound reinforcement, including outdoor concerts and festivals.

In collaboration with our global network of rental partners, Martin Audio has taken pride of place on some of the world’s biggest and most prestigious festivals, such as Glastonbury, Rock in Rio, and BST Hyde Park.

With our fastidious focus upon full frequency sound, control, coverage and consistency, festival production teams rely upon Martin Audio to deliver the best controlled sound across their sites.

I have to say the system delivered a really exciting muscular sound with absolute clarity for the daily crowds that were in excess of 100,000. There’s nothing that will make the hairs stand up on the back of your neck as much as seeing an audience rocking as far as the eye can see.

Peter Racy, Gabisom Chief Engineer, Rock in Rio.

Unite Your Audience

Our philosophy of “Unite Your Audience” isn’t just a motto, it’s the guiding principle behind everything we do. Our systems bring our signature sound of clarity and impact with the coverage and consistency that truly connects the fans with the artist’s performance ensuring across the festival site, everyone hears the best sound.

Big Sound Without The Noise Pollution

The technology behind Martin Audio MLA and Wavefront Precision allows us to deliver a full range intimate experience at 350m from the pyramid stage and yet within 50m of the edge of the arena, we can reduce the levels up to 15dB and even lower beyond. The accuracy of this system is unmatched; it’s like stepping through an invisible door as the sound rapidly fades around you.

Simon Honywill, Audio Consultant for Glastonbury.

All members of its management are approachable, down to earth, and they are service led, driven by its people and understanding that it’s about shared relationships and collaboration with customers.

Paul Timmins, Director, 22live

We had to control sound escape outside the venue to an unprecedented level, but with Martin Audio’s DISPLAY optimisation software the results were easy to obtain. Inside the audience field the audio experience was completely different to outside the perimeter. It was amazing how much sound pressure and quality was provided to avoid it leaking out.

SIDECAR SOCIAL

SIDECAR SOCIAL

ABOUT SIDECAR SOCIAL

“Anything but your typical Texas bar, Sidecar Social is an innovative social experience. The 20,000 sqft space offers a place to watch the big game, relax outdoors, or get into some friendly competition with Pop-A- Shot and Foosball.”

JENNIFER JACKSON, DIRECTOR OF DESIGN – ON DECK CONCEPTS

THE CHALLENGE

Sidecar Social was an intriguing project with a bold vision and a complex space. The open concept L-shaped building brought unique challenges. There needed to be four distinct areas, each serving a specific purpose, from watching a ballgame to playing foosball, or sharing a meal with friends. The complexity came in making sure the whole space blended well together. For the project to be successful, there had to be a lot of trust and communication between everyone involved. Interior designer, Jennifer Jackson and CEO of SAVE, Tim Boyd took the challenge head on.

“The goal of the space and the real challenge was to make everyone feel comfortable. We wanted someone to be able to go to a dinner party all dressed up, and swing by Sidecar Social for cocktails on the way home. But we also have this other group of people that have been playing golf all day and want to come to Sidecar to watch the game.“ – Jennifer Jackson

REQUIREMENTS

The dream for Sidecar Social was to be a place that had something for everyone, with well defined spaces that served specific functions, but that all fit together harmoniously. Two vital pieces of creating that harmony came from the audio and video quality throughout the space. It needed to be top notch to get the desired experience for the guests.

METHODOLOGY

Designing an automated system for a commercial project requires unique needs of that business and that it operates seamlessly and with ease. Functionality and usability are of utmost importance. That is why the team at Sidecar Social selected SAVE Electronics to help them transform their venue with the right audio, video, and system control. Creating a space with incredible audio from speakers that didn’t detract from the look and feel of the space was vital. There are roughly 150 Sonance speakers in Sidecar Social. The whole space can be turned up or played at lower levels depending on the time of day, and the audio quality isn’t compromised either way. The entire system is controlled by Crestron from an iPad. IPORT is the solution used to Hold, Charge, and Protect the iPad and can be mounted to the wall or on a charging dock.

The Beachcomber Hotel & Resort, or as the locals call it ‘The Beachie’ is an iconic waterfront destination located in the heart of the Central Coast, Toukley. The resort sits between two Great Lakes and the Pacific Ocean with nearly 100m of lake frontage and its own private pier. The sprawling complex was recently relaunched as a 4-star, an 80-room resort offering multiple indoor and outdoor bars, restaurants, six function rooms, gaming and bottle-shop amenities as well as expansive guest facilities including a 20-meter pool, sauna, gymnasium and wellness services, and a three-level car park all amid a 1-hectare site with lawns terracing down to the water’s edge.

With international travel to or from Australia on hold due to COVID-19 restrictions, the resort’s offering of a ‘Hamptons-inspired ambiance’ meant a big uptick in demand from locals looking for a unique vacation experience within Oz.

THE INTEGRATOR

To carry out the extensive renovation work, the resort relied on local production company Pro Sound and Lighting to provide a new audio system for the resort’s gaming and sports bar, DJ area, outdoor area, and hotel lobby areas.

Pro Sound and Lighting offer all the best brands under one roof. For all of your sales, hire production and installation entertainment technology gear. Stocking EV, QSC, Rode, Antari, Chauvet, Shure, Pioneer, KRK, AKAI, Event Lighting, and much more.

THE INSTALL

Amplifiers For Hospitality | LEA Install At Beachcomber Hotel & Resort

Leonard Buckley, Production Manager at Pro Sound and Lighting, explained the demanding timeline of this project meant that the team was fighting against the clock and struggling with many manufacturers not having equipment on hand.

“This project had a particularly quick turnaround time, we needed to get the entire install done within the space of 3 or 4 weeks and couldn’t be held back because of equipment delays, ” commented Buckley. “One of the main reasons why we chose the LEA amps was because they were so easy to get our hands on and they were one of few companies with no supply chain issues.”

Ultimately the company decided to power the resort with five LEA Professional Dante Connect Series Amplifiers, including three of the Connect 354, one Connect 702 and one Connect 704.

For the Beachcomber Resort, Pro Sound and Lighting utilized QSYS and QSC speakers, InDesign box and ceiling speakers, Community speakers and Shure wireless systems.

“As the LEA amps can integrate with any kind of system, I wasn’t worried about investing in them without knowing what kind of system we would end up putting in the space,” commented Buckley. “We didn’t have to worry about what sort of system we were pairing with, and that’s what made it so easy for us to use them, there was no special programming or training involved, everything talked to each other nice and simple.”

“The very first thing I did with the amps was connect them to the cloud,” explained Buckley. “From the very first day of installing them I was able to remote monitor and see what was going on, it was really handy, especially as our office is a three-hour drive from the resort. We haven’t had any issues, the amplifiers have been flawless so far but the fact that the option to control them remotely is there, is really great.”

Buckley explained that one of the main challenges of the project was that the scope of the work was constantly changing due to the owners reconfiguring the space.

“Throughout the project the owners made changes as to how different areas of the resort would be utilized. The versatility of these amps was amazing, we never had to stress about things changing at the last minute because the amps were flexible in terms of what they could drive in their power outputs, we just put them in and knew we’d be okay.”

THE CONCLUSION

Amplifiers For Hospitality | LEA Install At Beachcomber Hotel & Resort

For Pro Sound and Lighting, this was their first time using LEA Professional amplifiers, yet because of the simple visual interface and resources provided by LEA, the team was able to install them quickly with no assistance.

“Everything was so intuitive that I didn’t need any assistance with getting everything going. There’s a couple of tutorial videos that I watched, and they had more than enough information for what I needed to do. The interface was very visual and very easy to understand. You didn’t have to do any specific training to get these things going like you do with a lot of audio-visual equipment in the industry. That was brilliant.”

The entire installation is now complete with the resort back open and taking bookings. So far, the team has received positive feedback and plan to do similar installations in other resorts within the hotel group.

“I want to put these amplifiers into every one of these clients’ venues and I’m really glad I found them,” concluded Buckley. “They’ve just been really reliable, even just the simple things of them turning on and off when they’ve been told to. That may seem like a small thing, but it makes a huge difference when things just work at the first go and at the price point they are, it’s just amazing.”

We’d like to thank our partners at Midwich for working with our integrator friends at Pro Sound and Lighting to get our amps into this killer installation and we hope that guests at the Beachcomber Hotel & Resort will enjoy a relaxing and fun stay for years to come as our amps amplify their experience.

THE INTEGRATOR

CONFERENCE CENTER AUDIO SYSTEMS: LEA INSTALL AT I-HOTEL

Champaign-Urbana based C.V. Lloyde Audiovisual has been providing pro AV design, sales, and installation services throughout Illinois for more than 150 years. With a deep-rooted philosophy that the quality of a professional system must not be compromised by the actual installation, C.V. Lloyde counts many of the region’s universities, stadiums, houses of worship, school districts, and corporate facilities among their long list of clients.

Kyle Wikoff & Todd Fitton the System Design Team at C.V. Lloyde worked on the I-Hotel project, explained that I-Hotel management wanted to equip their new meeting spaces with high-quality, scalable AV systems. They also wanted to use the opportunity to upgrade their existing systems and tie them together for maximum, full-facility flexibility.

We recently got the chance to talk with Stephen Morris about some of their install stories, motivations, and just geek out a little bit about audio gear. It was a blast! You can read some of that transaction here.

THE INSTALL

CONFERENCE CENTER AUDIO SYSTEMS: LEA INSTALL AT I-HOTEL

Because the AV system is all network-based, C.V. Lloyde worked with the I-Hotel IT team to deploy the system. The C.V. Lloyde team designed the system, specified the equipment, and then provided the IT team with a database of equipment serial numbers and Mac addresses so they can set up their network around the equipment needs — whether it’s a standard network for IT or if it’s an AV network distributing audio or video.

And we were glad to hear that C.V. Lloyde was taking full advantage of our Cloud platform with this project as well.

“At the I-Hotel, we’re currently using AMX SVSI for AV transport, as well as an extensive Dante audio network,” explained Fitton. “The LEA amplifiers we’re using are 100% Dante and IoT-enabled, so we were able to put the LEA amplifiers on their own kind of network to be able to reach the internet because that’s not typical for the hotel facility — the remote connectivity is a huge LEA advantage for us, and the client loves it.”

“When we’re on-site, our technicians can log in to the system with a laptop or smart phone, walk around the facility and just mute a channel or a media zone and quickly be able to identify if it’s on or off,” said Fitton. “And when we are doing speaker testing, to be able to mute all the other channels of the amplifiers easily, that says a lot about the product. We really liked those features.”

The I-Hotel and Conference Center system is currently using nine 704D, Dante CONNECT SERIES amps for a total of 25,200 watts across 27 zones.

THE CONCLUSION

CONFERENCE CENTER AUDIO SYSTEMS: LEA INSTALL AT I-HOTEL

The new system is very flexible and easy to use, allowing hotel staff to quickly combine any rooms or any batch of rooms to meet any configuration need. Everything in the system is controllable via an AMX touch panel. C.V. Lloyde helped create a custom user interface that allows users to quickly set up background music and adjust audio volumes with or without engaging video projectors or dropping motorized screens.

According to the design team, the system delivers the audio quality, flexibility, and ease of use across the entire facility that the client required.

“LEA is our number one choice for amplifiers because of the units’ quality and connectivity, and for the relationship, we have with the people at LEA Professional,” said Fitton. “Their response times and level of support have been phenomenal— that’s a huge benefit, especially for hotel and conference spaces. I certainly look forward to more projects with the folks at LEA Professional.”

We’d like to thank C.V. Lloyde Audiovisual for giving our CONNECTSERIES a chance in this project and we hope that people will benefit from the support provided by our amps in the I-Hotel and Conference Ceneter for many years to come.

We have an extensive record of successful corporate events – ranging from Fortune 500 companies through to SME clients – based on the same philosophy that a delegation that can hear every word and feel inspired or informed will be more engaged and the event is more likely to fulfil its goals.

Many corporate events take place in spaces with highly reverberant surfaces that can significantly impact upon intelligibility: Martin Audio has patented technology solutions to better control sound and deliver superior coverage and consistency for the audience.

Similarly, the nature of these events often means that the ideal position for loudspeakers is not available because of sightlines or screens, and again Martin Audio solutions can compensate for this to still ensure clarity for the audience.

A wide portfolio of loudspeaker solutions meets the variety of needs and challenges that face corporate presentations and deployment of sound systems – this also helps to guarantee a consistency of sound dynamics between different loudspeakers, as well as working within different project budget scenarios.

ETHOS

ETHOS

ABOUT ETHOS

Ethos is an upscale restaurant that pays tribute to the Mediterranean and is designed to draw in an audience of up and coming entrepreneurs and business professionals. These elements show up in the food, the interiors, and the people. Each aspect is interpreted in a revitalized context with a South African flavor.

THE CHALLENGE

Ethos restaurant brings something new to South Africa. The attention to detail is exquisite. From the elegant plating of the food to the warmth of the lighting, every detail is accounted for. To create the desired mood for the space, there needed to be an added audio experience where sound comes from seemingly everywhere without the look of big bulky speakers hanging from the wall or ceiling.

REQUIREMENTS

Adding audio to the space needed to meet stringent demands to match the carefully curated details throughout the restaurant. The audio had to be visually minimalistic so as not to be a distraction from the overall feeling of the space. The sound quality needed to be superb and the atmosphere needed to be comfortable. The system would need to deliver music at the perfect level, comfortable to listen to without distracting or interfering with conversation in any way.

CLICK TO VIEW CASE STUDY PDF

METHODOLOGY

Recognizing the importance of selecting a sleek, reliable, and capable audio system, the Ethos design team partnered with the experts at ProAudio, DJHeaven, and DeVrye Automation. Ultimately, the team selected Sonance Professional Series as the audio solution to meet the requirements for Ethos to complete the overall atmosphere and dining experience.

RESULTS

As the first implementation of Sonance Professional Series products into a project in Africa, Ethos is breaking ground for endless possibilities of future commercial projects that may choose to feature Sonance Professional Series. The speakers are available in various form factors with a minimalistic finish and shape to blend into any space and provide proper audio intelligibility and coverage for a comfortable experience. The result is audio that sounds great but is almost invisible. The music can be heard but the source cannot be easily determined by the ear or the eye. The audio does not take away from the environment, but rather, it adds the perfect touch to it.

MACCLESFIELD TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB

MACCLESFIELD TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB

ABOUT MACCLESFIELD FC

Macclesfield Town Football Club is one of the leading teams in the North West Counties Football League in England. It is one of the oldest clubs in the country and has become a popular fitness and entertainment facility for the local community. Revitalizing and renovating the Macclesfield Town Complex has been the passion project of Rob Smethurst, whose vision included an all-weather pitch, upgrading stands, a youth football academy, two state-of-the-art private gyms, and a large sports bar and restaurant.

REQUIREMENTS

Having managed to build an extensive portfolio of residential projects, Lux Integrate had only served mostly smaller commercial businesses prior to getting the call to specify the Macclesfield FC project. The referral came from their hi profile residential client, ex-footballer Robbie Savage. Working with Rob Smethurst on the big Macclesfield project, Savage initially contacted Lux Integrate to install a system for the facility’s board room. Upon reviewing the project and the ambitions of the duo, the team at Lux Integrate, headed by Jay Hussain, knew that they could contribute in other areas to help make the vision a reality, to achieve the impressive experience they were going for.

CLICK TO VIEW CASE STUDY PDF

THE CHALLENGE

This ambitious overhaul considered every detail to ensure a complete experience for fans and visitors, including full integration of technology systems. The facility would need great sounding audio throughout the various spaces to help achieve an immersive and complete experience, be it audio for the gym spaces, restaurant area, board rooms, or other amenity offering. With many diverse experience needs for audio and system control, the project team partnered with established custom integration experts, Lux Integrate.

BEYOND EXPECTATION

“I realised the plan [originally specified by the previous partner] wouldn’t deliver what Rob needed, and with Habitech’s support, I suggested a few changes, upselling the idea of spectacular high quality video walls and evenly distributed wide bandwidth sound to go with them. So, he asked us for a detailed proposal and virtually overnight my role changed from consultant to project facilitator in charge of design and installation. I’d had this vision of sports bar AV done right and this was my opportunity to prove it.”

– Jay Hussain, Lux Integrate

METHODOLOGY

Tackling diverse areas of this larger project required flexible solutions. For this, Jay and the team at Lux Integrate worked with locally based manufacturer representative, Habitech, to design the perfect system. For the bar and restaurant atmosphere, the system included Sonance Professional Series Pendant style speakers that could blend in with the ceiling area with the ability to be strategically positioned just above the listening area. The VIP bar area is designed with a different aesthetic which required a different form factor for the speakers to blend in. For this, Sonance Professional Series In-Ceiling speakers were selected. The series’ ability to match tonality across form factors makes mixing and matching easy without compromising the audio performance throughout the space. To ensure that the bar audio could keep up with the energy and volume of enthusiastic fans, a Sonance Professional Series Subwoofer was installed as well. The system provides full-bodied sound that can carry the atmosphere at all times of day.

“Between the video walls in the bar we hung ten evenly spaced Sonance PS-P63T 6.5-inch Pro Series pendant speakers from the ceiling. Stylistically they work really well with the exposed air conditioning pipes and cable trays.”

– Jay Hussain, Lux Integrate

Beyond the bar system, audio was selected to support the gymnasiums and changing areas which include a diverse range of fitness activity spaces with varying needs. With spin, boxing, cardio, and other workout areas, the audio needed to be able to deliver high performance and clarity at various volumes. A mix of Sonance Professional Series Pendant speakers, In-Ceiling, and Surface Mount speakers were applied, providing the appropriate experience per workout zone while blending into the design of the space.

RESULTS

The newly renovated and freshly branded Macclesfield FC provides a complete experience in every detail of the visitor’s experience. Having an impactful audio experience that adapts to the activity and the space has made the facility all the more impressive. Macclesfield FC and the entire team involved in the renovation is pleased with the performance and execution of the system details to make every aspect of the Macclesfield FC experience memorable for fans year round. The facility and its amenities will keep fans coming back matchday after matchday.
